Upon arrival in Baghdad, complete immigration and visa formalities before transferring to your hotel for check-in. Meet your guide for an orientation session, followed by an introductory sightseeing tour of Baghdad. Overnight in Baghdad.

  • Begin with a visit to the Iraq Museum, exploring galleries that chronicle the rich civilizations of Iraq through the ages.
  • Embark on a walking tour of Old Baghdad along Al Rasheed Street, visiting vibrant local markets such as the copper market (Al Safafeer), Souq Al Sarai (stationery market), Al Mutanabbi Street (books market), and Khan Al Mudalal (antiques market).
  • Tour heritage sites including the historic Madrasa Mustansiriya and the Abbasid Palace, both significant examples of medieval Islamic architecture.
  • Enjoy a boat ride on the Tigris River, with insights into the statue of the renowned poet Al-Mutanabbi.
  • Experience Baghdad’s culinary scene with lunch at a traditional restaurant on Hayder Khana Street, sampling specialties like Kubba Al Sarai or Oum Kalthoum Shawarma, and treats from Al Shahbender Café and Haj Zbala Juice Shop.
  • In the afternoon, visit the Ziggurat of Dur-Kurigalzu and the Enlil Temples, dedicated to Sumerian deities. The Ziggurat stands impressively at 52 meters and is among the best-preserved ancient structures in Iraq.
  • Evening at leisure for dinner or to explore Baghdad’s lively café culture.
  • Overnight in Baghdad.
  • Depart after breakfast for Babylon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the ancient city, including the reconstructed Ishtar Gate, Procession Street, original gate foundations, temple complexes, the Lion of Babylon, the southern and northern palaces, and the site where Alexander the Great died.
  • Ascend to one of the former regime’s governmental palaces for panoramic views and special access to upper floors.
  • Enjoy a traditional lunch, then continue to Karbala for hotel check-in.
  • In the evening, walk between the shrines of Imam Hussain and Abbas, with a guided overview of the historic Battle of Karbala. Experience Karbala’s vibrant nighttime atmosphere, sampling local food, sweets, and signature drinks.
  • Overnight in Karbala.
    • Drive to Nasiriyah.
    • After lunch, visit the ancient city of Ur, home to the Great Ziggurat of Ur-a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Sumerian capital. Explore Abraham’s house, the Shulgi Palace, and the world’s oldest known arch at the Dub-Lal-Makh temple entrance. Witness a memorable sunset over the archaeological site.
    • Evening at leisure to dine or relax at a local café.
    • Overnight in Nasiriyah.
    • Early morning departure to Chibayesh for a unique marshland experience.
    • Enjoy a traditional breakfast with a local family in a mud house.
    • Take a guided tour through the floating villages of the Mesopotamian Marshes-often referred to as the Gardens of Eden-observing diverse wildlife and meeting the Marsh Arabs (Al Madan), who have adapted to this ecosystem over centuries.
    • Savor a lunch featuring a unique marshland fish, served in a traditional reed house (Al Mudhif).
    • After lunch, return to Baghdad.
    • Overnight in Baghdad.
    • After breakfast, travel to Samarra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its Abbasid caliphate architecture. Highlights include the iconic spiral minaret, the lake palace, and the Great Mosque of Samarra.
    • Return to Baghdad for overnight.
    • Transfer to Baghdad International Airport for your onward journey.
